Mother's Day

So, Pappy was right...it did take us two months to put our Mother's Day pictures up. Better late than never right! The following pictures were taken in Russellville at Luke's great-grandparents (Pappy's parents).

Who are these crazy people?

Since these pictures have nothing to do with the sequence of events in our (ok...Luke's) life I thought I'd give you a glimpse to a sillier side of me and Christy

Enjoy...

Ok and one of Luke...

And one for Nana and Papaw...

Owensboro's International BBQ Festival

Continuing on with the BBQ Fest from our previous post, after the run we had a quick breakfast and returned to the riverfront to enjoy the festivities of the BBQ Festival. Our first stop was at the First Baptist Family Pavilion. This is John's former church. They had all sorts of fun, kid-friendly stuff set up in their parking lot.

Our first stop was the pony rides. Luke loved it.

They also had inflatables. Luke didn't quite know what to think about this big slide.

Whoa Daddy, I can't see!!!

Next stop was the face painting and tattoo tent. We opted for the quicker tattoo.

Oh, the smell of BBQ!
It smelled great and tasted wonderful. We had free samples along the way.

Cooking teams begin early Saturday morning, preparing their best recipes for BBQ chickens, pork, burgoo, mutton, etc. It is a very large competition and a very coveted title to win. Many local churches (usually the Catholic parishes) compete for the grand prize.

Luke and Mommy making big bubbles.

Taking a little break from the stroller to play on the playground.

We ran into some of my former students who were doting over Luke. John and I went to elementary school with this little girl's uncle.

The moment I waited all week for was to visit the Southern Living tour bus. There was a rep there doing a grilling demonstration. Unfortunately, Luke didn't find it too interesting, so we didn't watch for very long.

Here's a view of the crowds of people at the festival. This riverfront street was full of food vendors, and the picture was taken at lunch time. The weather was beautiful, and made for a great turn-out for this annual event.
