During mid-August, John had training for work for a week in Lexington, so Luke and I took the opportunity to pay a visit to my parents in Kernersville, NC. We flew again, and he did extremely well on the flights. In the first pictures, we are at Fourth of July Park in Kernersville.
This is a tunnel on the playground that Luke crawled through.
Winston-Salem has a 3- story mall which ranks among the largest on the east coast, so of course we had to pay it a visit, twice. Here is Luke on his first carousel ride. We were the only one riding. The person running the ride said he is the first baby his age she had ever seen on the ride who did not cry. You can't tell from this picture, but he really did enjoy it.
During our visit to NC, I was looking through my September issue of Southern Living and noticed a short feature on the Reynolda Gardens in Winston-Salem. Being so close, I had to take a look so we visited the gardens one evening. It was beautiful. I would like to go again during the day, when we return to NC in the spring or summer, since there were also alot of shops and buildings to tour.
Here are Nana and Papaw in the rose garden (Christy's parents).
Near the end of August, Luke's cousins, Hunter & Cole came over for lunch. They all played together for a while that afternoon. Here is Hunter (almost 5 yrs). We didn't manage to get Cole in our picture. I'm having a good time with my cousins!!!
Luke loves being outside. These pictures were taken mid-August on one of our less humid days. I spread out blankets in the backyard so he could play for a bit. Unfortunately we don't have any shade in our backyard. Let me see the camera! Oh, I'm so cute! Chillin'
