Lady in Waiting

Well, my due date has come and gone, and I still have no baby in my arms. Luke is thoroughly enjoying his home right now and seems to have no intentions of leaving it anytime soon. My doctor informed me on Monday that I am now 2 cm dilated and thinned out, so it's just a matter of days. I seem to be dilating at the rate of 1 cm/ week right now, so I predict that we will have a baby by the end of January at the current rate. Fortunately, the doctor believes I will have Luke this week, and if I haven't had him by Monday then I will be induced on Monday or Tuesday.

Last night was pretty disappointing to go to bed still with a baby in my belly. I really expected to have him by now and felt frustrated to see the day come and go with no feelings of labor happening thus far in my pregnancy. John and I did hold a short family meeting last night before going to sleep to discuss this issue with Luke. I gave him his first lessons in life, letting him know that he couldn't stay inside of me forever, and sometimes there are things in life that we must do whether we like it or not. Life's not always fair:) How many times did we hear that growing up??? It's fun to say when you're the parent though.

Now, I'm spending my days just waiting and praying that the delivery will come soon. We've prayed all along that God would bring Luke to this world when he's ready, so we trust and know that God's timing is perfect in all situations (whether we like it or not). Please pray for our patience while we wait, as well as a safe delivery of a healthy baby boy. Thanks!!!

Nine days and counting

Well, we have only nine days until Luke's due date!! The time sure has flown by and we are anxiously awaiting his arrival. Christy is doing well. She has some swelling, a hard time getting up, and they typical back aches...nothing abnormal though. As of our last visit (11-14-05) she had not dilated any but we expect that she will have dilated some at our next visit tomorrow. She is finished teaching for the year on Tuesday so she has been very busy getting everything ready for her subs.

There has been activity in my job situation. I had an interview on Friday and one tomorrow in Frankfort. They both appear to be good jobs and would provide a challenge and the ability for Christy to stay home with a little more financial cushion available. I expect to know something by the middle of December.

Other than that not too much is going on. Hope you all are doing well!
